Metafina Site Gets Clean

Back in April 2008, we announced on this news feed that a multi-phased project was underway to address concerns at the former Metafina Chemicals Plant site located in the Town of Faro.
During the summer 2009, environmental engineering consultants proceeding to implement Phase 2 of the project. Cleanup efforts were targeted at specific areas where environmental concerns were found.
Soil testing confirmed the majority of the contamination had been successfully remediated. However, one soil sample showed a concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons that still marginally exceeded the standard. Plans are underway to remediate and retest this area in the summer 2010.
